NOTES

Reflecting on Successes and Areas for Improvement from Session 1:

Sessions were well received overall. Participants really enjoyed the 4 Hats discussion and Active Listening and CBAM activities. Many expressed an interest in future activities that included more time for practicing coaching and listening skills and building confidence as leaders.

Requests for more time for interactions and developing skills. Participants are very interested in creating a "Tool Belt" of resources and strategies that they can refer to as they develop and hone their skills as teacher leaders.

Designing Session 2--Considerations:

1. Revisit CBAM

Focus on helping TLs evaluate where their fellow educators are now and develop and practice strategies for moving them further along the continuum.

Extend the CBAM introduction from session 1 to provide many opportunities for role-playing and practicing skills.

Provide a transition activity that will connect CBAM to Adult Learning section. Perhaps this would be the place we focus on the affective aspect of the teacher leadership role, and developing a culture of collaboration verses competition. Consider the question: How do I maintain a collaborative relationship with my colleagues while also coaching them?

2. Provide a focus Adult Learning Needs and Strategies include brain research related to adult learning.

Jessica shared an andragogy/pedagogy card sort activity and has a link to these materials.

The team discussed the work of Malcolm Knowles.

3. Create a Differentiated Activity that will allow participants to create a "product" that they can use in their roles as teacher leaders

*We also discussed the idea of innovative term "teacherpreneurs" and Jessica referred us to the site:
